Project Engineer (Mechanical) -Limited Duration Contract

Introduction Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Project Engineer (Mechanical) to be placed in Head Office. The successful candidate will report to the Study Manager. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents. Duties & Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:•    Design of mechanical mine infrastructure related to winning and removing rock from underground•    Managing the design and drawing process to a schedule and within budget•    Providing clients with engineering designs and studies as drawn by a skilled draughting team•    Assisting with the development of proposals for design projects, including cost and time estimates•    Developing mechanical project documentation such as specifications, equipment lists, and tender documents•    Presentation of projects to senior management and clients•    Effective self and team management in alignment with company values•    Effective engagement with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders•    Proactive risk identification and mitigation, participation in risk management processes•    Comply with legal regulations and company standards, policies, procedures, and safety protocols•    Conduct site visits within SA and across borders Desired Experience & Qualification Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:•    Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent (MSc preferred)•    Registered with ECSA as a Pr. Eng or Candidate Engineer (preferred)•    Project management qualification (CAPM, PMP or similar) (preferred)•    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects, PowerPoint)•    Familiar with Engineering design / Draughting software (Bentley suite preferred)•    Valid driver’s licence and Passport •    Proven ability to translate mechanical engineering theory into practical solutions for construction•    Self-starter with ability to apply his/her operational experience and initiative in study work•    Interpersonal skills with ability to interact with clients, suppliers, consultants, and peer disciplines•    Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with professional standard of literacy to write detailed engineering study reports•    Eager for continuous learning and adaptability in an innovative environment Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:•    More than 8 years of proven depth of experience in engineering structures, pumping, ventilation, and materials handling, preferably in an underground mining environment•    Within the above experience, have applied knowledge to supply solutions that could be suitable in shaft sinking and hoisting operations, mine development, winders, TMM and/or dewatering •    Experience on construction sites and in a drawing office environment•    Design project leadership experience leading to reports and drawings of design solutions•    Experience in professional report writing All appointments will be done in line with our employment equity strategy. DisclaimerThe Recruiter may amend, delete or expire jobs at any time without notification.Cementation reserves the right not to proceed with filling the position.An application will not in itself entitle the applicant to an interview.If you do not receive any feedback on your application within 4 weeks from the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
