Introduction Our client is looking for the following candidate to join the core SAP Engineering team within the Group IT Hub South Africa, supporting the core operation and transformation of the Overseas Supply Centers solution.

This role focuses on operating the Packaging Service Template (APOLLO) for the Physical Logistics Overseas Manufacturing System (OMS), which handles Bill-of-Material, Change-Coordination, Demand Planning, and Explosion architectures across PNW2 plants.

Additionally, you will support the detailed planning of loading sequences, space-optimization for container management (Flexis), and the critical strategic transformation of operating packaging services over to SAP S/4HANA (Proton / PKT) landscapes.

Core ABAP & System Mastery: 5+ years of extensive development experience spanning both legacy SAP R/3 and modern SAP S/4HANA environments. Logistics Framework Domain Expertise: Deep technical knowledge built through a minimum of 5 years of specialized development in SAP logistics modules, specifically Materials Management (MM) and Sales and Distribution (SD). Completely Independent Delivery: Serve as a functional expert working completely autonomously to turn ambiguous requests into clear solutions, run problem investigations affecting multiple systems, and provide structural guidance to team members.

Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:

Functional Refinement: Support the Sub Product Owner directly with the technical and functional refinement of unrefined business requirements. Problem Analysis & Bug Fixing: Take end-to-end ownership of root-cause problem analysis and bug fixing for the critical Overseas Supply Centers solution serving international plants. Customization & Enhancements: Conduct custom parameterization and processing setup of defined logistics processes, providing developer support to implement new product enhancements and User Stories. Overseas Supply Testing: Coordinate and execute rigorous testing protocols for overseas supply center processes, covering manual testing as well as automated frameworks like CBTA or Tosca. Team Leadership: Actively manage and guide local or distributed team members across entry and advanced levels, escalating only those tasks that are highly complex and strictly outside your span of control. Methodology Compliance: Adhere strictly to approved Agile Working Model (AWM) Charter practices, data privacy laws, and information protection standards during migration operations.

Desired Experience & Qualification Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Management, or a related field (or similar qualification). Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience in SAP ABAP Development. Minimum of 5 years of experience developing specifically within SAP logistics modules (MM, SD).

Essential Skills & Technologies:

SAP Development Core:

Proven technical experience in SAP R/3 Development. Proven technical experience in SAP S/4HANA Development. Good working knowledge of standard integration technologies, specifically IDoc and OData. In-depth technical understanding of SAP infrastructure systems (e.g., Solution Manager).

Professional Capabilities:

Ability to effect change without direct exercise of command where persuasion and buy-in are required. Capability to conduct deep investigations to ensure unrefined specifics are fully understood by all technical and business parties.

Advantageous Skills:

Deep, modern S/4HANA technical knowledge. Extensive experience utilizing ABAP Objects for object-oriented development models. Practical experience working within structured Agile methodologies and frameworks.
